Satans predicament after he falls in Paradise Lost is utterly hopeless, yet he chooses to persevere. He reasons that he should continue to struggle, even though he is aware that it is entirely in vain. The process he follows to arrive at this choice is similar to the process Albert Camus will use to justify the unrelenting toil of his absurd man. Before this becomes apparent, portions of Satan as a character must be eliminated from consideration, because they present an intractable set of problems. Prior to his rebellion, Satan is a divine being, who stoodst in Heavn, upright and pure, (IV, 936-37) like God and the other angels. He becomes essentially human, in that he simply is a conscious being who exists and has the choice to either continue to exist, or give up, without any external evidence to give him a justification for continuing. It is unclear whether suicide is actually an option for him. Since his continued existence is at Gods pleasure, we could say it is not Satans choice at all, but then everything Satan does is ultimately at Gods pleasure. And God has given him free will, whatever that means. It is sufficient to say that Satan does have the option to choose to want to die, event if he might actually be able to carry out this act. But he does not choose that, nor does he choose to see take the certainty that his predicament can not really improve as a reason to just quit trying. Where does he get his justification for this choice? He has to make it up from whole cloth. The objective evidence says there is no point. He ignores this, and instead invents a purpose for himself. Once he has succeeded in convincing himself to go on, he as solved the problem of the absurd man, and may presumably continue to apply this same solution indefinitely. While still a young and relatively new field, biomedical engineering has been reported as the fastest growing career in America. With a projected growth of seventy-two percent by the year 2018, the potential for new opportunities and projects is immense (â€Å"Fastest Growing Jobs†). While past innovation has solely included use of artificial devices, the field is now exploring the use of regenerative medicine and stem cells, cells that can be used for the growth of tissues or organs. The use of stem cells may lead to several future advancements including the regeneration of back discs, laboratory grown kidneys, and the cure for Alzheimer’s Disease. Under the direction of a biomedical engineer, stem cells co uld be used for the growth of an organ or tissue. Stem cells could also be added to damaged tissue to replenish the area (â€Å"Stem Cell Basics†). The regrowth or reparation of organs and tissues open up a wide field of possibilities that biomedical engineers can explore, such as the potential to help those suffering from degenerative disc disease. Known as one of the most common causes of neck and back pain, degenerative disc disease is a condition where currently the pain can only be managed, but not yet cured. Degenerative disc disease occurs when the discs of the spinal cord, which are normally soft and easily compressed in order to absorb shock, break down over time. Because of this, the discs can no longer absorb shock which results in a great deal of pain for the afflicted person (â€Å"Degenerative Disc†). However, biomedical engineers are working to reverse the pain by injecting stem cells into the area of the spine where the discs are damaged. The difficulties with accomplishing this advancement are properly injecting the stem cells and keeping them contained in the area between the discs. Now Comes the Peace of Prague In 1635 having Ferdinand make the bigger concession In that his Edict of Resolution will not go back to 1555 but rather to 1627 when all the families fled the country. That would have been the end of It but Span stuck It’s nose In with Ferdinand so France stuck It’s In with Gustavo. This caused the war to go on In a milling kind of way. In 1640 Portugal reasserted Its independence diverting Spain. Then finally in 1643 everyone finally decides they are still going the 150 delegates finally reached agreements five years later. The actual winners of the war were Sweden, which gained control of the Baltic; France, which became the chief Western power; the United Netherlands, which became an independent republic; and the Rhine Palatinate is restored to the heir of Frederick V. Respectively the losers of the war were Austria and Spain, that lost their dominant political positions, and Spain that lost the Netherlands. One of the most significant concessions were that the Holy Roman Emperor no longer claims to be the ruler of the German principalities and they are recognized as independent states.
